Request DigiVote account deletion
This page explains how to request deletion of your DigiVote account and associated personal data. DigiVote is an unofficial voter-pulse app and is not affiliated with the Election Commission of India.
How to request deletion (choose one)
- In the DigiVote app (fastest)
- Open the DigiVote app and sign in with the mobile number for that account.
- Tap Account (avatar / Account tab).
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm deletion when asked.
Deletion starts immediately after you confirm.
- By email (if you cannot use the app)
- Email pratapchittiboyna@zohomail.in with subject line: DigiVote account deletion request.
- Include the +91 mobile number used to sign in to DigiVote, and state that you want the DigiVote account and associated data deleted.
- We will verify the request and complete deletion within 30 days of receiving a clear request we can match to an account.
Data that is deleted
When your DigiVote account is deleted, we remove:
- Your voter profile (name, mobile number on the account, gender, age group, optional email, selected constituencies)
- Your optional profile photo from DigiVote storage
- Your live nominations (candidate entries tied to your account)
- Your ballot participation records for DigiVote (that you cast a ballot in an election type)
- Related OTP attempt logs for that mobile number in DigiVote
We never stored who you voted for, so there is no ballot-choice record to delete. Anonymous aggregate vote totals shown for other candidates are not rewritten when you leave.
Data that may be kept
- Anti-revote fingerprint: to stop a second DigiVote ballot after you delete and later register again on the same mobile number, we keep an irreversible fingerprint of that number linked only to election types already voted. It is not your phone number in plain text and is not linked to who you voted for. We keep this for as long as DigiVote needs it to enforce one ballot per mobile per election type (typically for the life of that poll / product need).
- Security / server logs: routine infrastructure logs may retain IP or request metadata for a short operational period (usually up to 90 days), then rotate per normal Google Cloud / hosting practice. These logs are not used as a DigiVote profile.
- Firebase / Identity Platform auth: after DigiVote deletes your app account, related phone-auth records may be cleared from DigiVote’s side when you delete in-app; for email requests we process DigiVote data and may clear or unlink auth as part of fulfilling the request within 30 days.
Additional retention
Aside from the anti-revote fingerprint and short-lived operational logs above, DigiVote does not retain your profile, photo, nominations, or participation after deletion is completed. Email deletion requests are completed within 30 days.
